ndiswrapper causing 400MB+ log files...
for both /var/log/messages & /var/log/warn. Sample from `messages` (duplicated in `warn`): <sample> Feb 15 22:59:13 liberty5 kernel: [<c0346c6e>] schedule+0x8ae/0xb90 Feb 15 22:59:13 liberty5 kernel: [<c011ff38>] __wake_up+0x38/0x50 Feb 15 22:59:13 liberty5 kernel: [<c0133409>] worker_thread+0x129/0x240 Feb 15 22:59:13 liberty5 kernel: [<c0203870>] fb_flashcursor+0x0/0xb0 Feb 15 22:59:13 liberty5 kernel: [<c011fe80>] default_wake_function+0x0/0x10 Feb 15 22:59:13 liberty5 kernel: [<c011fe80>] default_wake_function+0x0/0x10 Feb 15 22:59:13 liberty5 kernel: [<c01332e0>] worker_thread+0x0/0x240 Feb 15 22:59:13 liberty5 kernel: [<c0137535>] kthread+0xa5/0xf0 Feb 15 22:59:13 liberty5 kernel: [<c0137490>] kthread+0x0/0xf0 Feb 15 22:59:13 liberty5 kernel: [<c01052b9>] kernel_thread_helper+0x5/0xc Feb 15 22:59:13 liberty5 kernel: bad: scheduling while atomic! </sample> The system also eventually hangs, and I have to cold reboot. I already have several gigabytes of log files from the last few days. This does not happen at work, where there is no wireless network. I will boot to runlevel 3 tonight while I snooze to see if it happens then as well. There are no other unusual messages in any logs. Only other thing I can think of is it tries to load some toshiba laptop module at boot and start service (fxfnd??) (both of these fail). Gkrellm is saying I still have plenty of ram/swap when it locks up. The hard drive seems to go to 100% about 1 sec before the machine locks. It is generating about 1,000 lines/second of log messages for each of messages and warn. Anyone have any idea how to fix the cause of these log files and lock-ups? Any help would be greatly appreciated. More info below. Thanks. <snip> No response. I guess no one else could figured this out either. :-( Ah well. I switched to driverloader, and all has been well for the past 4 days. Guess I'll pony up the $20 and report this as a ndiswrapper bug. For those switching from ndiswrapper to driverloader, make sure you unload ndiswrapper from the kernel (`modprobe -r ndiswrapper`). Also use yast to edit /etc/sysconfig -->kernel --> Modules_To_Load_on_Boot (??) to remove ndiswrapper. -- Mark A. Taff
