Hi all, For some time I've been trying to figure out why my RAID-1 array would occasionally drop one if its two drives. I finally discovered that when the machine is rebooted, it doesn't add the second drive at all. There's nothing wrong with the drive at all, which explains why I don't see errors, and SMART says it's perfect. So, how could this thing consistently refuse to put the drive into the array. The system as a whole sees the drive on startup, but the md drivers never even consider adding the drive. Any suggestions? Cheers, Simon "You can tell whether a man is clever by his answers. Partition type = 0xFD = raid autodetect ? /Per Jessen, Zürich -- http://www.spamchek.com/ - managed anti-spam and anti-virus solution. Let us analyse your spam- and virus-threat - up to 2 months for free.

Oops, somehow not... Not sure how that happened. Thanks, I'll change that and give it another try. Cheers, Simon "You can tell whether a man is clever by his answers. Thanks, Per. I guess when I replaced the drive after its predecessor actually did fail, that somehow got left as standard Linux partition. Sigh :( Anyway, all is happy now, thanks for the pointer.
