[opensuse] Freshclam: ERROR: Verification: Can't verify database integrity

Hi, since a couple of hours, freshclam constantly fails with "ERROR: Verification: Can't verify database integrity" after downloading main.cvd, no matter from which mirror it downloads the data. It also complains about clamd being outdate (0.97.8 vs. 0.98.1). Is it possible that there was a database format change from 0.97 to 0.98 which Suse missed? -S -- (o_ Stefan Gofferje | SCLT, MCP, CCSA //\ Reg'd Linux User #247167 | VCP #2263 V_/_ Heckler & Koch - the original point and click interface

That's not terribly unusual. Saw the same thing on Ubuntu the other day. -- _____________________________________ ---This space for rent--- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Yes, you're correct. The osc command requires an account. I had no longer been aware of this.
I'd suggest another route to find out who the maintainer is.
http://software.opensuse.org/package/clamav https://build.opensuse.org/package/show?project=openSUSE%3A13.1&package=clamav http://openbuildservice.org/support/
users -> https://build.opensuse.org/package/users/openSUSE:13.1/clamav
This gives three possible names:
Dirk Mueller Stephan Kulow Tomáš Chvátal
These three are listed as 'Maintainer' and not as 'Bugowner'. Why ever nobody is listed there and the osc tool reports one. :\ That I count a bug in the web UI. Please report it.
I remember previously seeing a link, that when clicked, directly opened a Bugzilla page with the appropriate fields already filled. I can no longer find that :-?
If something like this exists any anyone knows and uses it please add it to the bug reporting howto page. Cheers, Lars -- Lars Müller [ˈlaː(r)z ˈmʏlɐ] Samba Team + SUSE Labs SUSE Linux, Maxfeldstraße 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany

Sorry, if I had not been clear. I intended two references: a) In the bug report a link to this thread pointing to the list archive http://lists.opensuse.org/ See https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=861409#c2 b) A reply back to this list with the bug ID as you later did. This bidirectional referencing makes it easier for people to follow if they are not subscribed to this list but get a bug assigned, filed, reported via bugzilla. btw you did not make use of the osc maintainer hint I've given. If it would have been a real issue the report would therfore still stuck in the bnc-team-screening queue and the reporter would take notice of it maybe a week after you reported it. Thanks, Lars

I did not have OSC installed and it has a ton of dependencies that it wants to install along if you install it. I didn't have the time yesterday to quickly evaluate the impact of installing all this stuff on my system - let alone figure out what osc is and what is does. I'm not familiar with this program. I would have checked today and decided then. Besides, my clamd was going down after another signature update failure around 0300Z again. Is anybody aware of some problems project-side? -- (o_ Stefan Gofferje | SCLT, MCP, CCSA //\ Reg'd Linux User #247167 | VCP #2263 V_/_ Heckler & Koch - the original point and click interface
