misbehaving hwclock (or where can i get another /dev/rtc?)
greetings, does anybody know how i can go about getting or generating a new '/dev/rtc' for SuSE 7.3 on an intel? mine seems to have been corrupted somehow -- hangs the hwclock at boot. can i just replace it with another or does it need to be compiled for this motherboard? i'm hoping not to have to recompile the kernel for this minor issue. thanks in advance... regards, stewart

I had some problems with failed a ioctl to hwclock at boot on my 7.0 system recently (but not a system hang). I cured it by deleting /etc/adjtime which had become corrupt. The system just recreates it if it is missing. Might be worth a try? Geoff _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
