Fwd: Re: [SLE] How can I see if a key pressed gives a code?
I did try that but 3 of the special keys didn't give any return.
It seems as if the pressing of these keys is not transmitted to the system.
The keyboard hardware works o.k. (i checked under other OS's - everything
allright).

Hi there! I have a Logitech Cordless keyboard with special keys. Under 9.1, some of these don't work although they all worked with 9.0 and earlier. Where can I find out how to correct this?
Replying to the subject question. Open a terminal and type in xev and press enter, press a key and read the results. Check for keycode and the value that follows it. Sometimes it de[ends on how the keyboard is defined in the X config as to wether the key depressions are accepted or not. If you define it as pc105 the driver only expects 105 keys to be on you keyboard. What does your setup say? Laurence On Wed, 2004-06-16 at 10:05, Laurent wrote:

IF you have some sort of standard brand name type keyboard, you might be able to set it up w/ yast to the specific model... Tho you *might* also have to find out where it's configured when you first install, somewhere in /etc , no doubt ... since the choices on installation are more limited a fancier keyboard might not register fully until you setup w/ yast ... I did have this wireless logitech working w/ all sorts of special keys, not just teh win ones but some of the multimedia/email etc cards worked under a prior version of Suse.. but, I hardly ever used them anyway so didnt' bother to record what I did to make that work.... (sigh) Oldtimers disease no doubt... ;) -- j -- nemo me impune lacessit it's just an afterthought; okay ? : TOAD - what happens to an illegally parked frog.
this dates from DOS c class. there are now more keys on KB and keys on
mice.
would someone like to help me update and convert to *nix.
its time I tried some coding.
