Re: [S.u.S.E. Linux] S.u.S.E. 5.2
a correction, The voodoo RUSH is a chipset designed by 3DFX, it supports rendering in a window in fact the rush chipset it used in semi professional 3d graphics, the subset of SGI's open GL is called miniGL, someone told me that the RUSH is not a pass though card, that I cannot confirm, thanks Chris At 04:00 PM 6/18/98 -0500, you wrote:
Not even close. The riva is made by nvidia. Voodoo, voodoo rush, and voodoo2 cards are made by 3dfx. The voodoo and voodoo2 are 3d only cards, they do not do 2d at all, and they only do fullscreen 3d, not in a window. 3dfx voodoo and voodoo2 cards outperform any other card in 3d performance by a factor of 4, but this will soon change as other card makers rush to play catch up. Voodoo and voodoo2 cards support microsoft's directX, a subset of sgi's OpenGL, and their own proprietary api, Glide.

If you reread my post I think you'll see that I said "Voodoo, voodoo rush, and voodoo2 cards are made by 3dfx.". While quake, quake2 and hexen are not true opengl implemetations, the term opengl is still employed when discussing them. I mentioned in my initial post that a subset of opengl is used. Don't blame me, blame the gaming community and the gaming press for misusing the term opengl. The rush is not a pass through card, it does do 3d in a window, does not use the "voodoo" chipset, and it's 3d performance is vastly inferior to both the voodoo and voodoo2. I have owned a voodoo card since January 1997, and recently purchased a voodoo2, so I am familiar with the product. Christopher L Miller wrote:

ps. I meant designed by, not made by. Michael Lankton wrote:
