LILO order of boot choices on diskette
Using YAST2 the installer put LILO on a floppy. On
another system LILO went on the MBR.
On the LILO on MBR system I was arrange the order of
the listed LILO options by editing /etc/lilo.conf,
but on the sys that has a LILO boot floppy editing
the /etc/lilo.conf does NOT change the screen order
at the lilo prompt screen. Must something on that
floppy be edited? I have not been able to mount that
floppy from root logon; is there something special
about that lilo boot diskette?

2 possibilities I can think of: 1) Faulty floppy -- did the failed mount message say something about "can't read superblock"? If not, any other messages? 2) <teaching grandma to suck eggs> Did you run lilo after editing /etc/lilo.conf and after mounting the floppy? </teach> -- Never trust a man in a suit -- cll
Thanks for the suggestions. Here is the msg from attempt to mount /floppy : "mount you must specify the filesystem type" but this was using "mount /floppy" which refers to the fstab entry: /dev/fd0 /floppy auto noauto, user 0 0 When I issue "mount /floppy" when there is a msdos formatted diskette in the drive it mounts OK. When the LILO boot floppy is in the drive I get the msg above regarding specify filesystem type. I verified that /etc/lilo.conf has the choices in the right order, and reran "lilo"; it processed the entries in the right order. But upon shutdown-reboot the lilo graphic screen is in the old order! It accessed the floppy drive so the order of choices must be on that floppy, but being unable to mount it is preventing me from changing the order. Anyone has any insight into this problem? Thanks........... PeterB muzh wrote:
