Chuck; Yes, one of our customers, a large Medical Insurance company here in California runs SuSE on VA boxes which are quite standard HW, very similar to Intel OEM boxes. Most of these units have Intel based NIC's and VA uses Mylex RAID. While it may be so that the BIOS could be changed, this is probably in refrence to the management port and features for VACUM. I have also had servers in a cluster from VA with Polyserve (at Comdex and LWE San Jose) In short I would not expect you to have difficulty running SuSE on VA HW. New to VA-Linux boxes and not having one that I can scratch and play with yet, has anyone put SuSE 7 on one of these beasts? The model is a Full On 2230. You would think the hardware would not matter but a semi-technical buddy told me that VA-Linux has some kind of firmware, much like Sun and other high-end servers.
