I use module CA0106 for a SoundBlaster Audigy. It creates an alsa mixer (Volume Control) that has various speaker options under Edit>>Preferences. I have the rear, side and center speakers unchecked because I have only 2 speakers. Have you looked at the Volume Control for these types of options?
