This package is required by a lot of gnome packages (like gnome-session 2.11.90-1) in apt, but it appears that the packages needed (pango and cairo) are not updated and will therefore not provide the libcairo package. Sorry, my mistake. The package in question is actually libpangocairo-1.0.so.0. It's provided by pango-1.9.x which is not on the repos I have. You can get it at ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/apt/SuSE/9.3-i386/RPMS.gnome you also can get it easily adding the component 'gnome' in your apt sources.lists file but I DO NOT recommend it at the moment because there has been some isues lastly wih gtk2 packages.
