Re: Installing HP PSC 1210 printer on SuSE 8.2
I want to install an HP PSC 1210 printer, but it doesn't appear on the
of HP printers in Yast. According to the HP site the 1200 series is a supported driver. One web page recommended I install the 'hp-officejet' package from the SuSE CD, but still no driver shows up.
FYI, there is no /etc/cups/ppd/HPPSC1210.ppd file on my system. I can't download that file at the moment because linuxprinting.org is down. Would it help if I did?
I've read many web pages without gaining much insight. Why is this so hard?
How do I get Yast to add the 1210 to the printer drivers list so I can
it during install? If I can't do that, how do I install the HP PSC 1210?
Thanks,

The solution. Download 1210 PPD file from this web page: http://www.linuxprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=HP-PSC_1210 Copy the PPD file to /usr/share/cups/model/HP. Install printer as typically would using Yast. PSC 1210 is now a driver choice offered under HP.
