If I try to mount the cdrom by hand in a term window, I get about the same answer.

Can anyone give me a hand on this? And, please, some tips. Which programs do You use to play CDs and DVDs and so on?

Hi Thomas, you can't mount an audio cd. Just use any of the cd player apps, like KsCD or use xmms (play location). To watch dvd's you could use Ogle or Xine. Marcel
