[opensuse] ifconfig et al vanished from leap 15.0
Just wondering, I have observed that there is no oldschool ifconfig (package net-tools or what it was called) any more. I have never grown accustomed to ip and other tools just yet ;( ip a ip li and so comes to my mind as replacements to ifconfig, but i liked the counters and some stuff of ifconfig as a brief overview. there is ss and some other tools as replacements for netstat arp and more. Maybe time to learn new things daily. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Those tools were deprecated long ago, but are still available, also in 15.0 : net-tools-deprecated # cnf ifconfig The program 'ifconfig' can be found in the following packages: * net-tools-deprecated [ path: /bin/ifconfig, repository: zypp (openSUSE-Leap-15.0-1) ] * net-tools-deprecated [ path: /usr/bin/ifconfig, repository: zypp (openSUSE-Leap-15.0-1) ] * net-tools-deprecated [ path: /bin/ifconfig, repository: zypp (repo-oss) ] * net-tools-deprecated [ path: /usr/bin/ifconfig, repository: zypp (repo-oss) ] Try installing with: zypper install net-tools-deprecated -- Per Jessen, Zürich (24.0°C) http://www.dns24.ch/ - your free DNS host, made in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
