[opensuse] Can't get Evolution 2.30 to connect to an Exchange Global Address List
I'm just curious if anyone else has had an issues with Evolution 2.30 (from the openSUSE 11.3 release) connecting with to a MS Exchange 2003 GAL. Because I've gone round and round with this one and I can't get it to work. Evolution itself will connect and display the email messages. I can even see the regular contacts stored on the Exchange server. But every time I try to open the GAL, I get this error message: Unable to open address book This address book cannot be opened. This either means that an incorrect URI was entered, or the server is unreachable. Detailed error message: Other error I've checked and my entry in the GAL field is correct. And I have an 11.2 box that has no problems connecting, so I know that the server is available. I've tried connecting with: - a fresh install (evolution-exchange 2.30.1-2.12) - a fully patched install (which has no Evolution updates) - using the Gnome 2.30 repository (evolution-exchange 2.30.3-1.1) None of them work. They all give the same error message. In desperation, I tried Ubuntu 10.10 (which runs Evolution 2.30.3); and it is able to connect to the GAL. For the record, I'm using the 32 bit version of openSUSE 11.3. Thanks Ken -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Oh, and I just tried the Gnome 2.32 repository. It doesn't work either. Personally, I don't know how they consider that repository stable. It caused all kinds of issues... -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Let me also add that Fedora 13 is running Evolution 2.30.3 and they are also able to connect to the Exchange GAL. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

what is configured in your exchange-email-account in the second configuration-tab (i think it has to be named "receiving mails" in english)? the user name und OWA URL is the interesting part. and what is configured in the 3rd tab, "receiving-options"? -- Rainer Klier Research & Development xyzmo SIGNificant Group | Austria | USA | Germany A-4052 Ansfelden, Haiderstraße 23 Tel.: +43 7229 88060-0, E-Mail: rainer.klier@xyzmo.com -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Hello Rainer, thanks for the reply. Receiving Email (Second Tab) - Server Type = MS Exchange - Username = <Windows username> - OWA URL = http://<FQDN of Exchange server>/exchange Receiving Options (Third Tab) - Check every 10 minutes = checked - Check all folders = checked - GC server name = <FQDN of AD server (in this case it is my FSMO)> - Limit GAL response to 500 = checked - Authentication Type = Secure or Plaintext - password Expiry Warning = 7 I've also discovered that openSUSE 11.4 (which is running Gnome 2.32) also will not connect to the GAL and displays the same error.
