KDE splash screen hang fix
Victor was right on about fixing the long splash screen hang and long logout. I moved my .kde2 dir to something else and then logged in to kde and let kde setup a new one. I lost some settings but it seems to load up much quicker. (Kde also set up the menus better) Nice fix, thanks, CrazyDiamond "I no longer have that problem. I did rename my ~/.kde2 directory, and KDE created a new one. Perhaps that might have fixed the problem." - v -- Victor R. Cardona __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yes, this appears to have fix the splash screen hang, and it did seem to reduce the logout delay, but it still takes about twelve seconds from when I click 'Logout' to when it actually logs out (the drive doesn't seem to be doing anything during the delay)...I completely uninstalled everything of KDE2 that I could, and did a fresh install... Anyone else still having the Logout delay? Charles

I havn't got the 2.1.1 isntalled yet so I havn't checked the new startkde script to see is suse fixed the problem but look in there for a line like LD_BIND_NOW=true kdeinit +kdesktop +kcminit +kicker +klipper +khotkeys kwrited If that line is still there it needs to be commented out. That fixes the splash screen hang, the long logout problem, and another one I can't remember right now. regards Mark
