Help I can't figure out my sound on opensuse 11.0. I have an audigy4 card. I can play mp3's in amarok but nothing coming through the speakers. If I open krecord it is recording the sound. I hear a pop when i start the computer and the speaker volume on. I went into kmix and turned all volumes up and made sure it wasn't muted but still no sound from speakers. And the speakers work. I know I'm missing something but what? I only have opensuse 11.0 on the system. Both dvd/cd drives are lite-on asus p5n-d motherboard 2gig ram seagate sata hard drive 620 watt power suppply nvidia geforce 8800 gt bob schwedler -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Solved! Made sure I was part of audio group and had to select audigy in kmixer. I knew it was simple. bob schwedler -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Bob where in Kmix did you set the type audio board (Audigy)? I do not see a place to do it. My problem is no sound in Amarok. Kmix seems to work and all kde sounds work. Also Kaffine plays sound fine. Please make sure that the speakers are plugged into the right ports on the sound card. Ex green plug or generic plug goes into the green 1/8" hole on the card. Subwoofer goes into black. Etc. Also, open a terminal. Type "alsamixer". Scroll all the way to the last column on the right. It should say something about "digital". Try toggling that function with "m" on the keyboard. BE CAREFUL to turn your volume down first. Mike -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
