[SLE] How to synch mail between two computers?

That is correct. The messages are on the server, you only 'see' them. They are only deleted when you 'sync' it, which depends on your mail client. For example, netscape needs to empty trash, Outlook Express needs to purge deleted messages, etc. The messages would be available to all clients until one of them 'syncs' and actually deleted the messages from the server.
So if I understand you correctly if I access the imap server from two different computers I get all the mails copied locally and then when I sync with either computer changes are made on the imap server. Is this correct? I can use imap to get disconnected access to my mails which I can synch between computers? Regards, Jethro -------------------------------------------------------

Hello How about good old POP3 connection and checking "Leave a copy on the server" and "When deleted locally, remove from server" boxes? -- --Jyry :-( C:-/ C========8-O C8-/ C:-(

Nice idea but I often go on the road for a couple of weeks at a time. I also regularly receive lots of image and it would be very easy to overload my mailbox if I had to leave a couple of weeks of images on there. Regards, Jethro

correct
I get all the mails copied locally
This can depend on your client settings (i.e. you can only download header info, etc., but in general yes.
and then when I sync with either computer changes are made on the imap server. Is this correct?
Yes. I use this to delete certain messages for other users (i.e. huge messages they can't download on a dialup.) Until I sync, which since I am using Netscape means emptying the trash, all the messages are still there. For example, if I select 3 messages, click on delete, they are moved to my trash folder locally. If I log off and log back in, ALL the messages are still there. Only when I empty trash does it actually delete them from the server. This is probably configurable depending on the client (some will empty trash on exit or maybe logoff), so check the settings of the client you use. I have used Mozilla and Netscape 7 in Linux, Outlook Express and Eudora in Windows with our IMAP.
I can use imap to get disconnected access to my mails which I can synch between computers?
Sorry, but you lost me there. You could access one mailbox from any number of computers, each seeing all the mail. When any one deleted any message FROM THE SERVER (not locally), then those messages are gone from all (as far as downloading them again.
