The boot loaders (both Lilo and Grub, I believe) have a VGA parameter that is specified in the individual load sections. It controls how the bootup messages are displayed. But I haven't been able to find where the legal values of that parameter and their meanings are listed. Does anyone know? Paul Abrahams

The framebuffer HOWTO http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/Framebuffer-HOWTO-5.html#ss5.2. Try vga=ask, vga=788, or vga=0x314 as starting points. -- "The object and practice of liberty lies in the limitation of governmental power." General Douglas MacArthur Team OS/2 ** Reg.
