I have been unable to get VNC server to operate on a server. I followed the instructions on the Suse admin help guide which are about as clear as mud, so I am not sure I done it correctly. I added vnc=1 vncpassword=abc1234 to the kernel boot configuration with YAST. (I installed VNC during the installation of Suse 9.3) Using krdc or command line, I still get no connection. Looking at the messages file on the server, I get Jul 24 09:20:45 linux xinetd[6547]: removing vnc2 Jul 24 09:20:45 linux xinetd[6547]: removing vnc3 Jul 24 09:20:45 linux xinetd[6547]: removing vnchttpd2 Jul 24 09:20:45 linux xinetd[6547]: removing vnchttpd3 so I guess vnc is not starting. Anyone have an idea on how to get vnc to work on the server or a howto on doing this. Art
Finally found an email in the Suse archive from 4 Mar 2005 from Jerry Westrick that had the info I needed. Only think it did not mention was that I had to set up the network card for fixed ip address instead of DHCP. Still do not know the reason for that. Thanks Jerry Art On Sun, 2005-07-24 at 00:39 -0700, Art Fore wrote:
