How do I do that? I downloaded the one for 10.3, after searching from software.opensuse.org. Apparently it is a KDE4 package. Is there a package that will work with KDE 3 as comes with OpenSUSE 10.3? Perhaps I can use the one from 10.2. BTW, I have no idea what that KDE 4 preview is supposed to show. From what I can see, it's a disaster and hopefully not the future of KDE. -- Use OpenOffice.org http://www.openoffice.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

KDE4 is a beta, which for those used to openSUSE standards is not even alpha ;-) It is not on DVD. I missed to add ftp repositories, so I have to wait a while until YaST is done. And you'll note it says "KDE4". First of all, many kde4 programs are perfectly usable today, and you can run them from your kde3 desktop Secondly, read the second result -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

What second result are you referring to? I went to the OpenSUSE site, searched for and installed the Kstars package for 10.3. I found that it would not run and posted the error message: kstars: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libextdate.so.4: undefined symbol: _ZN9KLineEdit5eventEP6QEvent The above error message means absolutely nothing to me. In the quoted text above there are two result: lines. kde4-stars, and kdeedu3. One is for kde4, one is for kde3

It means some c++ library isn't where it should be. Not sure which, I'd have to search -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Yes, I saw that. Now try and find the one for kde3. When you use the package search function you're taken to the one for kde4. In Software Management, when you search for KStars and click on the version tab, you'll see two entries for KDE3 and KDE4. When I tried to go directly to the server and get it manually, I found the specified directory doesn't exist.

Whatever the cause, I used the package search function on the OpenSUSE (click on Package Repositories link) site and wound up with a package that doesn't work. -- Use OpenOffice.org http://www.openoffice.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

That was out of screen :-) probably. I should skip first part, but I just wanted to underscore anomaly with the package that doesn't list what it provides. -- Regards, Rajko. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Would I be correct in assuming you tried to install Kstars and found it doesn't run? -- Use OpenOffice.org http://www.openoffice.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

It runs fine. Install 'kdeedu3' package it contains 'kstars'. If you have configured FTP repositories than: zypper in kdeedu3 will do it. ********** I found kstars in the kdeedu3 package using YaST Software Management. As search I used 'kstars' though I checked boxes below as: x Name x Summary x Description Default is only first 2, 'Name' and 'Summary' that yields only kde4 package. With 'Description' included, it will give you kdeedu3 as one of results. This is a packaging bug, as package 'kdeedu3' doesn't list 'kstars' as one of provided programs. That is the reason you could not find it using web interfaces. Both, software.opensuse.org and Benjamin's webpin rely on 'RPM provides' part of packages. -- Regards, Rajko. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
