Hi! Please I don't want to start a OS war, so if anyone finds this mail inpolite or offending please mail your oppinion to me directly and not to the list. I have a laptop running linux which has a dhcp network set up via pcmcia. Since my work at home includes work on a windooze machine (NT) and I would like to connect my laptop to it I would like to ask you if there is a way to do that. The laptop is running SuSE linux 6.2 and connects well to dhcp on SuSE 6.2 and Slackware 7 distro. I don't know how to make it connect to a NT machine (Workstation 4.0 sp 5). I know this is way of topic for this list, but I really hate to ask on some windooze list just so they can tell mw here to *BUY* something that will crash all the time. Can anyone at least point me to some url's or some program names to look up - something non commercial please (im just a student). (I allready found dnsplus, whic is shareware for 10days only). THX in advance! two options , install the samba package , and use smbmount to mount a shared windows drive/dir to access the windows machine, or if you have enough drive space , make a windows partion and use lilo to boot to which ever one you want. You can get more info on samba at www.samba.org At 12:53 AM 3/13/2000 +0100, Bostjan Muller wrote:

+----and here the quote ends----+ To do all that my laptop would have to have an ip set - which samba cannot set - the job is done by a dhcp server/daemon which automatically assigns an ip. This is what I need. After I get an ip everything can be worked out just fine ;) THX anyway. I beleave there is a link posted one mail before this so I gues that was exactly what I needed.
