Hello, I have recently installed SuSE 7.3 on a PC and all is well except for the printing - it doesn't. The printer is a Cannon bubble-jet 200 (B/W). The PC is an Intel P2 600MHz with 64Mb Ram, and a 15GB HDD. I have tried both LPR and CUPS but neither of them actually prints anything. I have noticed that the printer is not detected during install or afterwards, even though the printer was on throughout. Along with this, the LPR installation reported a possible problem with the printer port. I checked the settings in the BIOS and they are set to EPP+ECP. The test of the port itself produces a page with "Hello World" on it. This is the only output I have been able to get from the printer. The system dual boots Windows for the moment, and the printer works fine from there. The printer was bought in 1992 - I think. Does anyone have any solutions for me??? Many Thanks -dale
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 HI, I have a similar problem. YAST2 automatically picks up my Z52 - USB Printer. I select the drivers and take all neccessary actions to get the printer installed. But when I do a Test Print in YAST2 or try and Print from anywhere, the printer does not respond. No ERROR messages appear, no flashing lights... ...nuffink! :( I then boot into WinBlows (Dual Boot) and the printer works fine. Thanks Q On Wednesday 21 November 2001 13:58, Dale Roblin stated in a virtual court of law:

I had the same problem myself with SuSE 7.3
It appeared tha yast2 , after picking up and installing my printer had selected the wrong print file ie. lp-ascii instead of lp . All went
fine when I changed it with the Print Job Administration.
Hope it is the same for you. -- _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Paul Ollion proud linux user SuSE 7.3 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
