[opensuse] sorting of files by modification time in gnome save as dialog
This question, I guess, is not SUSE specific, it is related to gnome, so I am asking gnome guys. The question is about sorting files by modification time in the save as dialog. I do not see any logic behind it. That is if I click save as (eg in xsane) and the sort order has been set already to modified-up-arrow, the order of files in the window is the follows (from top to bottom): file oldest ... file newest dir oldest ... dir newest That is the directories are below the files, which is strange. If I click two times the 'modified' button/column-header to get again modified-up-arrow, the order changes to: dir oldest ... dir newest file oldest ... file newest The files come after folders, which is expected. And my point is: when I save a series of files with names that differ only in one character, the easiest is to select a previously saved file from the list and change the name. The fastest way to locate the file would be if the newest file was on the top of the list. The second fastest, if the newest file was the very last in the list. None of these occurs when I click save as. I either have to scroll down and find the border between files and directories or have click two times the 'modified' column header and then scroll to the very last row. Both method is unconvenient and requires more scrolling/clicking then it should. Is there a configure option to modify this behavior?
