Re: [S.u.S.E. Linux] apsfilter, printcap and stcolor
I had the same problem with my HP600C. Solution was to direct my print job to the RAW
printer (in my case lp4) instead of letting lpr decide which filter to use.
ex. lpr -Plp4 nameoffile
You can check your /etc/printcap file to find out which selections of lp#'s you have
available. There is a separate one for each filter (ascii, raw, mono, color, etc. etc.)

Hey Group:
I have a epson stylus color 800 which is working after using "apsfilter" SETUP. It did corrrectly setup /etc/printcap and it does do a very nice print job. The only problem is that it is printing vertical and I would like to print horizontal. I have checked the manpages for "lpr" , "printcap" and even "termcap" for a clue. SuSE Linux 5.1 doesn't mention anything in the printer section (Chapter 10 - page 145/156).
Clue?
I have enclosed a copy of /etc/printcap (edited here to save file size)
Thanks Donn n5xwb@inetport.com
Hi Donn;
The file you'r looking for is "/etc/apsfilterrc". Go down to about line #235. There you'll find 6 choices. Just pick one and change to it. No problem.
