Saludos.

Is SLED10 a better distribution than Ubuntu 6.06? As usual the answer is: it depends. Depends on what you want to do with it.
On 10/16/06, Jos van Kan <vankan@kabelfoon.nl> wrote:

Are you sure it doesn't mean ESPANOL? ;) Maybe all the rest of us have been wrong all this time. -- ----- stephan@s11n.net http://s11n.net "...pleasure is a grace and is not obedient to the commands of the will." -- Alan W. Watts

Damn! Never thought of that! I was going to post it in spanish, but I realized that doing so would violate my own post, which would trigger a conundrum and perhaps melt down the mailing list. -- _____________________________________ John Andersen
Sorry, It was my fault, I really thougth "e" mean español =) sorry. The english message would be: Hi gentlemen =) I hope you wont get angry about my kind of question, but I would like to know what you think about which distro would be better for users who are migrating from windows to Linux desktop, I mean, what distro between Ubuntu 6.06 and sled10 would be better for the ending user? I know that Ubuntu is a debian distro and Ubuntu is for mortal humans but I dont know exactly if that is the best choice, so, do you think that for a new user who use windows, office and outlook would be confortable if he use sled? what you think? what about ubuntu? PS sorry, I know that you luv sled, but i would like to have a good point. regard On 10/16/06, Gilberto I. Monroy Lopez <gimonroy@gmail.com> wrote:

As long as you speak English, ask anything that pleases you. This question has been "through the ringer" so to speak, so you might want to access the archives for more details and many opinions. It depends on a great many things. I personally recommend both of them, and I use both of them. I prefer KDE (Suse) but I use Gnome also (Ubuntu). The edge (if any) that Suse has over Ubuntu at this point is yast (the graphical installer). New users to Linux (from windoze) will definitely appreciate the yast graphical installer included with Suse. Otherwise, it really just depends on how the user plans to make use of the system. However, at this point I *trust* the Ubuntu community with the ability to upgrade to a new level ;-p Sometimes corporations (um, like Novell) tend to be a little toooo puusshhhhhy when it comes to development deadlines... so, Ubuntu may have the edge there. -- Kind regards, M Harris <><

SLED will integrate much better and more easily into a Windows environment. I suppose you won't be able to migrate _all_ your users over night. Also, I'd recommend KDE, installing them lots of games and showing them Kopete. It will ease the transition a lot. :-)

Are those things even supported on SLED? -- _____________________________________ John Andersen
