[SuSE Linux] Is Kscd mad?
Hello, I am wondering if Kscd (the KDE CD Player) is mad... When I log in as user is like if Kscd would be as an autostart program as two Kscd are opened and when I log in as root then I have three Kscd opened. What's the problem here? I didn't have these problems at the beguinning only after I have installed OSS. Thanks in advance. I am pretty sure that if you kill everything kscd related off, then when you restart KDE you will not have these things around (unless you have kscd in your startup folder, in which case one copy will start). The thing is that whether or not you have it set up to dock on launch, it actually runs two separate things, the player, and the little dock thing. If you kill the player, the dock thing is still alive (sometimes hidden). So you restart it. . and now you have like three Kscd things appearing. . .and it can get worse. And, when you restart KDE it saves the session so all of this opens back up. I had the same problems, which weren't really problems after all, and got around them by just making sure that I had one and only one instance of kscd running at any given time. If you don't, you run into problems even ejecting cd's etc since the multiple instances all are talking to the cd. Of course, what you should do, is just use a better cd player (like xmcd, say, though I am sure that there are even better things to use). ciao, chris On 29-Jan-99 Salvatore Sasegui wrote:

I think it's a bug of kscd or kwm You can delete the three instances of kscd in $HOME/.kde/share/config/kwmrc, look for the "tasks" line (at the end of the file) and delete them. -- Diego Berea Cabaleiro Dieguillo@usa.net UIN: 17297138 Powered by SuSE Linux 5.3 kernel 2.2 - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A</A>> and the archiv at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A</A>>
