[opensuse] Is YAST able to configure and administrate a mailrelay?
Hi, I am exploring the option to set up a mail relay with SuSE/SLES. I have always done it Debian before and now I wanted to try another approach (mainly because of YAST so other people admin it too) Is it possible to set up a mail relay that does DKIM (and possible ARC) signing with YAST only? Ofc there is alot of different domains that is going to use that relay. Let me know if I am unclear! Thanks!

Good question but I have two which might mike this thread easier to deal with. Firstly, what MTA are you planning to use? OpenSUSE comes with Exim and/or Postfix. My preference is the latter and I've done a lot with that at the past. However I'm a CLI/VIM kind of configuration guy; I read books, manuals and web pages and do things by hand. Many other distributions have excellent HOW-TO pages that are CLI oriented, and ultimately even YaST produces a exit lit for those files from the GUI check-list, if you look "under the hood". Oh, and it makes reporting here or posting to config files to a shared site easier. Secondly there is the "why don't you copy over?" set of questions. In effect the HOW-TO pages are answering that, aren't they? If you have this is in, say, Postfix config files, for Debian, why not copy those config files across? -- A: Yes. > Q: Are you sure? >> A: Because it reverses the logical flow of conversation. >>> Q: Why is top posting frowned upon? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Firstly, what MTA are you planning to use? I do want to use postfix. I am very used to it and I also find it alot more easier to maintain than Exim :) OpenSUSE comes with Exim and/or Postfix. My preference is the latter and I've done a lot with that at the past. However I'm a CLI/VIM kind of configuration guy; I read books, manuals and web pages and do things by hand. Yep, same here. I have no problem doing everything manual via the CLI. However, not everyone is comfortable with working in the CLI.

The thing is that I want a "graphical" interface for maintaining DKIM for hundreds of domains. That includes DKIM-rotation and deployment. Personally I have no problem doing everything manually with CLI+VI, but since there is other people that will do the signing and publishing the records - it would be nice if they did not need to talk to me everythime. That's why I thought if YAST could help me, then I could use X-Forwarding for thoose particular users if they wanted to generate keys to sign mail. Oh, I prefer using Amavisd-new when signing domains, but if that is not possible to do I am open for other suggestions.

Have you looked at what openSUSE offers? https://software.opensuse.org/search?utf8=%E2%9C%93&q=dkim&search_devel=false&search_unsupported=false&baseproject=openSUSE%3ALeap%3A42.3 or other versions of LEAP or whatever.

The YaST mail module has a DKIM tickbox for signing outgoing mail, so maybe.
Ofc there is alot of different domains that is going to use that relay.
That would not be a problem. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (6.0°C) http://www.hostsuisse.com/ - dedicated server rental in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Remember that these are the openSUSE mail lists, not the SUSE/SLES mail lists. What we answer may not be correct.

IMHO, the YaST mail configuration is not very extensive. It serves well for the initial configuration, but then you have to take over. The best thing for you is to test it and see if it covers your situation. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 42.2 x86_64 "Malachite" at Telcontar)
