I've had this problem just recently. I had a fully installed machine that was working fine. One day I turned on the computer, and it hung like that. I booted my Linux system from the install recovery cd, remounted my root "/" partition as read/write (mount -o remount /dev/hdb1 /) and then ran lilo. This rebuilt my master boot record (MBR) and I was again able to boot from lilo. I'm running 7.0 Pro. I'd be interested in know what's happening to cause this. -----Original Message----- From: pascal.miquet@wanadoo.fr [mailto:pascal.miquet@wanadoo.fr] Sent: Thursday, June 07, 2001 5:10 AM To: suse-linux-e@suse.com Subject: [SLE] Got the famous LI on startup Hello, I've the 7.1 Pro edition. I'm trying to install it on an OmniBook 6000 from HP. First there is a partition with Win2K$. I've already instal a Red Hat 7.0 on it all is fine. I can make the choice on startup between Linux on Dos. I've tried to install the SuSE 7.1, and on rebooting the system, I've got the LI and nothing else.. So I reinstall the Red Hat and got access to both Linux and Windows. What can I do to check if LiLO was installed on the MBR rather than the Linux Partition ? What must be checked to get SuSe running on my laptop.
