have a machine that has an sis900 ethernet port onboard. trying to do a clean install of suse 7.3. install is completed and setting up networking. choose the sis900 module for eth0 but the module wont load. get unresolved dependencies and all that stuff. dmesg shows the following --------------------------------------------------------- sis900.c: v1.08:00 6/11/2001 PCI: Found IRQ 10 for device 00:01:1 eth0: No MII transceivers found! ---------------------------------------------------------- and from lscpi --------------------------------------------------------- 00:01:1 Ethernet controller: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] SiS900 10/100 Ethernet (rev 84) --------------------------------------------------------- and modprobe sis900 gives /lib/modules/2.4.10-4GB/kernel/drives/net/sis900.o: init_module: No such device using the standard kernel that ships with suse 7.3. -- Chad Whitten Network/Systems Administrator neXband Communications cwhitten@nexband.com

Do you have a line in /etc/modules.conf like alias eth0 sis9000
I have 1 of these sis9000 built in to my motherboaerd, and it's been working fine. The only thing I can think of is 1. You didn't do a mk_initrd after installing the kernel. 2. The sis9000 is turned off in the bios settings 3. The kernel you have is bad. -- use Perl; #powerful programmable prestidigitation
