I think that one was the culprit. tracker-extract is running now apparently with no issues. The source of that dd is an USB stick apparently broken. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. R. What did I do to that stick? Well, I was just deleting all its files with Thunar (XFCE). I noticed that it was sending files to trash instead, so I opened a terminal in that directory from inside thunar: /media/stickname/somedirectory/ started mc, and told it to delete everything including the trash, that was one directory above. I thought I would get an error (about deleting the current directory), but what I got was the stick going read only. Unplug-replug, and I saw that the partition was gone! (simultaneously, I was doing a system update (Leap 15.1). I had to reboot at some point) So I thought of creating an image, in case of later study, prior to reformatting it. Soon after, the system stalled, as I reported on this thread. These are the syslog parts mentioning "sdg", with some context: <3.6> 2020-10-16T12:40:37.430270+02:00 Telcontar dbus-daemon 1460 - - [system] Successfully activated service 'org.opensuse.Snapper' <0.6> 2020-10-16T12:43:20.663577+02:00 Telcontar kernel -
