Re: [S.u.S.E. Linux] KDE-Installation
I found that you have to install them in a Particular order. First the kdelibs then the kdebase then the rest it doesn't matter. If you try to install the kdebase before the libs it wouldn't let you, you get an error. I never used the kwm-login-screen, so I can't comment on it. I start kde with startx and the file .xinitrc in my home directory that contains: startkde === john bitar cruel@rocketmail.com ---Stefan Seifert <s.seifert@informatikbuero.com> wrote:
Kde is still a problem!
I tried to install KDE 1.0 but yast continued to
tell me this:
Invalid: PREIN for /rpm/kbase.rpm error: /rpm/kbase.rpm cannot be installed Force replacement of files ... error: /rpm/kbase.rpm cannot be installed ... Mit Fehler
I uninstalled KDE Beta 3, tried using rmp -i
--force, rpm -U
--force but nothing helps me getting KDE 1.0
Even KDE Beta 4 is not functioning. It installs without problems but when I try to start KDE from the login screen (the KWM-login-screen!!) it restarts only this login screen. Any other window managers are inaccessable, too. They are not even in the select box at the login-screen. Only fvwm is there but it's the same like KDE. I can use failsafe but there I do only get a terminal and the startkde or kwm commands aren't functioning.
Qt 1.33 is installed. If it helps, it's from the c't free and share- ware CD '98, CD 2. In the filename there is RH5. Does this mean Red Hat? Could this be the source of problems? I don't know.
KDE Beta 3 is functioning without any problem. (Exept typical Beta problems...)
Would be glad if there is some response!
thanx
thanks to john bitar for his try.
