I use timidity. I followed the instructions and it worked fine. Of course I had to get sound working first.

HOw did you get teh sound working ?
Installed package oss, which puts the install file in /tmp/oss-something. Ran the install, it autodetected by cards (in two computers) and I can use rplay to play sounds.
And how the heck did you compile timidity - i get some errors all the time.
I went here: <A HREF="http://pubweb.bnl.gov/people/hoff/</A">http://pubweb.bnl.gov/people/hoff/</A> downloaded the plugin for Linux (version 1.10), and followed the instructions on downloading and installing the instrument files. Hope this helps. George - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e

[snip] Is there an ftp site for the instrument file(s)? At 8 - 9 megs, it's annoying to have the http download abort and not be able to reget. -- "I revert to the doctrinal methods of the thirteenth century, inspired by the general hope of getting something done."
