Hi, I have a RedHat server, with Cups installed and a parallel printer attached to it. It prints OK. The IPTABLE has ports: 515,630,631 and 161 open for the network. The queue is set to default and shared. I have tried unsuccessfully to configure printing from a Pro 9.3 up-todate. Yast | Hardware | printer | 1. Listening to CUPS servers to provide access to remote queues. (change) 2. Port for listening to remote CUPS servers is open on EXT, INT. (change) 3. Listen to IPP broadcasts with in select address the address of the server. 4. Open port in firewall is check on. Any suggestion in what to look for? -- Thanks http://www.911networks.com

Is port 631 also open for UDP both on the server and the client? See http://portal.suse.com/sdb/en/2004/05/jsmeix_print-cups-in-a-nutshell.html To test: On the client stop the cupsd and run as root netcat -l -u -p 631 and wait for incomming UDP browsing packages. If nothing arrives, check your network and firewall settings. If something arrives via netcat but you don't see remote queues when you run the cupsd on the client ("lpstat -p" shows nothing), check the "BrowseAllow" setting in cupsd.conf on the client, see http://portal.suse.com/sdb/en/2004/05/jsmeix_print-cups-in-a-nutshell.html Kind Regards Johannes Meixner -- SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, Maxfeldstrasse 5 Mail: jsmeix@suse.de 90409 Nuernberg, Germany WWW: http://www.suse.de/
