problem with intl library
Hi all, G'day! My system is Suse 7.2. I have recieved a message during compiling a program. The error message is as follows: /usr/i486-suse-linux/bin/ld: cannot find -lintl collect2: ld returned 1 exit status make: *** [ns] Error 1 As what I have found in the internet, if I want to get -lintl working, I need to have a libintl.a, which is included in "gettext" program. I have installed "gettext", nonetheless, the error was still exist. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks a lot! Did you run ldconfig (or SuSEconfig) after installing the package? -- -ckm

Which software are you trying to compile (possibly with URL)? Does it have a configure? If it has, did you run it? libintl contains the routines to handle localized messages. The code is both in glibc and in a stand alone version. On a normal SuSE system libintl isn't needed so there must be something wrong in the software you're trying to compile.
