If I've used one player to play, say and mp3 None of the others will load unless I reboot. Is there any way kill the one hogging the sound so that I can use another? Steve.

to show running tasks type: ps or to show all running task type: ps -e to kill an app use: kill <ps id number> where "ps id number" is the number listed next to the application when you do a 'ps' you could also do something like ps -e | grep xmms to show only apps listed with 'xmms' in their name, but you might miss some if the application uses some odd names to list itself. also, if an application refuses to close you can force it close by: kill -9 <ps id number>
