laptop problem with external display problem

Greeting, After installed SuSE v8.2, my Toshiba laptop can not bring X window up on the display which linked to the dock (Toshiba Advanced Port Replicator. My screen is Philips 170B. The console is ok? I was tried to change X11 setting, but, it seems not successful for me. How I can make the X window up on multi-screen? Any comments will be appreciated Thanks in advance Julie Xu Data Communication Team Information Technology Directorate University of Western Sydney Locked Bag 1797 Penrith South DC NSW 1797

I'm having a problem also with SuSE 8.2 on a Fujitsu S4546 laptop and thought it was the laptop hardware. I can boot up and get a display on an external monitor only, but it won't switch back to the LCD screen without a reboot with the monitor disconnected. 8.1 was OK. Could be a problem with XFree86 4.3.0, I haven't tried the latest update yet to see if the problem is fixed by it. Regards Sid. Julie Xu wrote:

Having found the same on my toshiba satellite. The solution came when i decided to, as root, # telinit 2 .. # cp /etc/X11/XF86Config /etc/X11/XF86Config.old # sax2 -f with the external monitor/ projector conected. Since that, everythings goes fine Hope it helps. -- -- Yo uso linux, y descubrí que usando windows se gasta más, -- -- se produce menos y pagan igual -- [--------------------------------------------------------------------] [ Prof. Andres Augusto Nogueiras Melendez ] [ Departamento de Tecnologia Electronica - Universidad de Vigo ] [ Campus Lagoas Marcosende, 9 http://www.dte.uvigo.es ] [ 36280 - Vigo, Pontevedra mailto:andres.nogueiras@dte.uvigo.es ] [ Spain tel: +34 986 812 091 fax: +34 986 469 547 ] [--------------------------------------------------------------------]
