Subject: AOpen MX64Pro II & Promise ATA33 card...
Greetings!
I'm rebuilding my file server that has an AOpen MX64 Pro II (Via MVP4
chipset with ATA66) motherboard with a Cyrix M2 PR333 cpu. My Linux
installation is SuSE 6.3 with the 2.2.16 kernel from SuSE 7.0. I'm trying
to set up two Quantum hard drives for a RAID 1 configuration and a Promise
ATA33 controller card. The drives previously worked in another system with
an Promise ATA66 card, and works fine with the motherboard built-in ATA66
controller.
If I don't have the drives connected to the controller card, the controller
BIOS won't install and I can boot up into Linux normally. If I have one or
both drives connected, the controller BIOS will install but I can't get
into Linux. After the configurations for the controllers and hard drive
specs are listed, the first hard drive is listed again and the system
freezes. (This is before the message for floppy drive driver is shown;
sometimes the floppy drive light turns on.) It does seems like a conflict
between the controller card and the floppy drive. I'm not sure what the
problem is.
Thanks!
