That is incorrect. The performance hit is small (<5%) and it evens out becuase you access the hard drive less frequently.

I wont argue. Let me just say that depending if you have memory intensive calculations (we do a lot of FFT's in place) and actually use the memory, accessing uncached memory is a BIG hit. If it doesn't affect you (less the 5%), great!
