Hi, This is something that has happend to me and, could proove usefull to someone at the same time I place my question. I installed SuSE 10.0 Eval on a machine with a NVidia TNT2 (I know - It's old). The problems begun, when i wanted to activate 3D on the Card. So, as usual i ran you to update the driver automaticly. Bad idea... The card stoped working at all... Next step was to download the latest nvidia-install from nvidia.com and give it a go. It also didn't work... So, after reading a few dosc at nvidia.com, i found out that, all installers >= 75xx don't support the NVidia TNT2 amongh others. So I've tryed version 7174 of the nvidia-installer. It almost worked. The problem now was that, after a reboot, there was no display available to be loaded. The solution was to add a few lines to /etc/udev/static_devices.txt. Those lines were: #nvidia by Rui Santos nvidia0 c 195 0 666 nvidia1 c 195 1 666 nvidia2 c 195 2 666 nvidia3 c 195 3 666 nvidia4 c 195 4 666 nvidia5 c 195 5 666 nvidia6 c 195 6 666 nvidia7 c 195 7 666 nvidiactl c 195 255 666 After this all worked well. Is there any other way to solve this? Is this the correct way? It seems to work... -- Rui Santos http://www.ruisantos.com/
