[opensuse] - how to change desktop Application Icon Type ?
Hello List, when hovering Mouse pointer, over Desktop Application launcher Icon, one sees: 1. Application Icon 2. Type : 3. Size: 4. Last Modified ........... but, mysteriously, most Icons [ such as kwrite, or thunderbird ] show Type : <an old program long sinceused > - am mystified "How" did this old program become the Type: associated with almost all the Icons on the Desktop !! . . . and "How" please to edit away this irrelevance ?? thanks best regards Ellan -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

You do not say what DE you are using; but according to the Free Desktop standards applications and their meta-data are discovered via ".desktop" files. Usually the global ones live in /usr/share/applications/... They can be overridden locally [per user] in ~/.local/share/applications/ <http://standards.freedesktop.org/desktop-entry-spec/latest/> -- Adam Tauno Williams <awilliam@whitemice.org> -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
