I really don't know because 10.3 was my first introduction. Does it upgrade like windows, downloading upgrades, or should I purchase the latest and install it over the present? Well upgrading over dialup would be quite problematic. Get a copy of openSUSE 11.2 and boot from the DVD. Next decide to upgrade (no new install). Such an upgrade does _not_ touch any content of /home Nevertheless a backup is an advantage. SUSE suggests to go from one version to the next. For example 10.3 to 11.0 to 11.1 to 11.2. The bigger the version gap is the more likely the issues are. FYI, two weks ago I did an upgrade from 10.3 to 11.2 without any problems. Machine is my Internet gateway, Samba, mail, proxy and Asterisk server, and also my workstation with mail client, web browsers, OpenOffice etc. I also like to "live on the edge" with newest (often beta or alpha) versions of software which I compile and install myself. Machine has previously been upgraded from (i think) 9.2 and never had any serious problems.
