Bob S. I occasionally get these messages also. I had my ISP look at them but they say

The call in EZMLM because that is the name of the list server. It stands for e z mail list manager
From Google
http://cr.yp.to/ezmlm.html This server is self-policing. If any messages did not go through to the subscriber, it will let you know so you can download them from the list. -- Henry

Not recently.

It depends on the reason aduced for bouncing. Read this list FAQ, there is some info on that. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. I used to think that it was a problem with the servers, but since updating to 10.1, I have not expierenced EZMLM warnings, at all. But, uptime on 10.1 has been *much* better than ANYTHING previous. I have been unable to lock it up with all the _messing_ that I do. :^) -- Patrick Shanahan Registered Linux User #207535 http://wahoo.no-ip.org @ http://counter.li.org HOG # US1244711 Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2

I very much doubt that those bounces are caused by your SuSE install. Much likely they are caused by hiccups at your internet provider, or SuSE's, but in order to make an educated guess one has to get a look at the reason adduced in the bounce message. For instance, the last one I got (June 9th), said, at the bottom: | Hi. This is the qmail-send program at lists.suse.com. | I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses. | This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out. | | <***@telefonica.net>: | 213.*.*.* does not like recipient. | Remote host said: 550 RCPT TO:<****@telefonica.net> User unknown | Giving up on 213.*.*.*. Obviously, that was a fault at my ISP, and it only affected one email; there is no way my install or at SuSE's end would affect it. Notice that as the remote server said it was a permanent error, it is bounced; otherwise, it would keep trying for some days. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. I am using RBL on my postfix and lists.suse.com [195.135.221.131] apparently was blacklisted by spamcop.net which caused bouncing. Right now 195.135.221.131 is clear with spamcop.net. -Kastus

bl.spamcop.net is very aggressive with their listing. Be prepared to reject mail you wish to receive if you use it at the smtp level. Such aggressive lists should better be used in content filters like amavisd-new or spamd or in a weighted policy daemon like Robert Felbers policyweightd. I made a compromise and only check clients without reverse dns or a hostname that looks like a dialup address. No need to check EVERY connecting client if it is listed in bl.spamcop.net.
