[opensuse] 11.3 in VBox?
Has anyone tried installing 11.3 in VirtualBox yet? I've installed all the RCs etc (in both VBox and on real HDs) and had no issues outside of the known issues that were discussed at the time.... but the full release dies during the install in VBox. The 11.3 ISO (64 bit) boots fine, and does the initial install process as expected. On reboot though, it locks up. The boot log gets to: Copying static /dev content and never gets any further. I just tested 11.3RC2, using the exact same settings/virtual HD etc., and it installs/boots just fine. Swap back to the 11.3 ISO and do a reinstall... and it locks up after the initial reboot.. same place.. copying static /dev content. Anyone else seeing this? I been running the 32 bit version in VBox since release day with no problems. What version of VBox are you using? I'm running 3.2.6 r63112 (not OSE) on an os 11.2 32 bit workstation. Host OS is 11.2 x86_64 running VBox 3.2.6 r63112 (from the vbox website). I'm trying to install the 64 bit version of 11.3... which should work with the 64 bit host (and does work with other 64 bit guest Linux installs). I can't yet pin down what's going wrong... basically RC2 installs fine, but the full release fails right after the initial reboot. Yes I have the exact same issue on my laptop with 11.1 opensuse. The vbox is from the virtualisation 11.1 repository from the build service (not sure its version) Haven't yet tried it from my 11.2 laptop or my 11.0 desktop Andrew -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I just tried the 32 bit version of the 11.3 release, and it installed and started in VirtualBox with no problems. It's only the 64 bit version I'm having issues with. Hmmmm... odd. I've got other 64 bit Linux distros installed... C. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I have an 11.2-64 host at work with VB-OSE running 32-bit 11.3 RC2, and Friday did a clean install of 11.3-64 (from DVD) over the RC2. So far seems to be fine. Tom in NM -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

The nopreload kernel param works on the x86_64 VBox install... 32 bit works fine in VBox without any special tweaking. Weird... wonder why it's giving issues in the final release yet works perfect in RC2 64 bit. I got this too. I was installing 11.3 RC2 as guest in Virtualbox on Windows Vista. I also tried with earlier OpenSuse versions, and same thing happened. Then I tried Ubuntu, and it worked. After that I haven't tried again. /Claes -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
