As some of you might remember, a few months ago I decided to take the plunge and try XFree 4.0. This seemed like a good idea at the time - until I tried, and it somehow wrecked my system in such a way that even after uninstalling it's RPMs are reinstalling 3.3.6's I couldn't get XFree to work. So, I took the easy way out, not desiring to spend a few days debugging, and reinstalled SuSE Linux 6.4 Now, I'm pondering reinstalling XFree 4.0 again. However, I'd like to avoid repeating the unfortunate mishap I describe above. So, does anyone know what might cause the following problems that I ran into? 1.) startx and SaX2 reported that display 0:0 already had a server running even after rebooting. 2.) After removing 4.0 and reverting to 3.3.6, I was told various errors (can't remember the specific wording anymore) about corrupt servers (assumedly, the SVGA Accelerated X Server didn't install properly). This all came about from installing the XFree86 4.0 rpms off of the SuSE Linux 6.4 CD - would they by chance be solved in XFree86 4.01?
