SuSE 9.0, installation of TeX style-file: texhash doesn't rebuild database
I wanted to report an issue concerning the installation of TeX style-files on a clean SuSE 9.0 system (tetex-2.0.2-48) and a solution. texhash doesn't rebuild the TeX-inputfiles-database: #texhash texhash: Updating /var/lib/texmf/ls-R... texhash: /usr/share/texmf/ls-R lacks magic string. Skipping... texhash: Updating /var/cache/fonts/ls-R... texhash: Done. In fact: # head -n 3 /usr/share/texmf/ls-R .: aliases bibtex I edited /usr/share/texmf/ls-R, and now texhash works fine: # head -n 4 /usr/share/texmf/ls-R % ls-R -- filename database for kpathsea; do not change this line. ./: aliases bibtex # texhash texhash: Updating /var/lib/texmf/ls-R... texhash: Updating /usr/share/texmf/ls-R... texhash: Updating /var/cache/fonts/ls-R... texhash: Done.
