[SLE] Software Updater inconsistent with YOU
Yesterday, I went out via YOU to see if there were any new packages available. There were none. After I quit YOU, I notice that the "Software Updater" had the exclamation point saying packages needed updating. I launched it and if showed a Java patch needing to be installed. I accepted and it apparently installed it. Then, all seemed ok. So, why was this patch not available in YOU but only available via "Software Updater"? Aren't these two supposed to be looking at the same thing as far as what is in need of updating? Similar thing here this morning. I checked with YOU and found some stuff that needed updating, did it and it finished normally. Then I checked the orange updater in the panel and it found a bunch more. Perhaps these are looking at different repositories? I'm also confused by the changed behavior of YOU: apparently it *always* shows packages that have been previously updated. This is going to be a long list pretty soon and will make it hard to find the new things. Other than the updater mess, I quite like 10.1 (after getting rid of beagle, of course)! -- N. B.
