Beatifull picture while my SuSE is starting up.
Dear Collegues, I've updated my SuSE 7.2 to SuSE 8.0 . It succeeded. But I'm wondering why afterward My SuSE is a little bit different than if I install my SuSE 8 (not updating from previous version). It's different because normally my SuSE 8 can show a beautifull display with pictures and a window containing the process which done corresponding to starts up this operating system. But if I get SuSE 8 by updating from previous version (not installing) than I get no picture (the beautifull display) each time my SuSE starting up but I got only one small penguin picture on the left-top side of my monitor and under the penguin picture come the processes which being done during the starting up of my updated SuSE Linux. My question is : "How can I get the beautifull display on my updated SuSE Linux 8 ?" Thank you very much in advance. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? The boot splash picture is stored in the initrd. Just do a "mkinitrd", and, if lilo is your bootloader, followed by "lilo". Make sure that in lilo.conf, there's a vga=0x31A (0x31A=1280x1024, but change it to your desired video mode). Here's a table of video modi for a nVidia Vanta [NV6] (TNT2): # ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- # The video mode number of the Linux kernel is the VESA mode number plus 200H. # ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- # | | 640x480 | 800x600 | 1024x768 | 1280x1024| 1152x864| 1600x1200 # ----+----+----------+----------+----------+----------+----------+----------- # | | | | | 160x64 | | # ----+----+----------+----------+----------+----------+----------+----------- # 16 | 4 | | 302H=770 | | | | # 256 | 8 | 301H=769 | 303H=771 | 305H=773 | 307H=775 | 161H=353 | 320H=800 # 32k | 15 | 310H=784 | 313H=787 | 316H=790 | 319H=793 | 162H=354 | 321H=801 # 64k | 16 | 311H=785 | 314H=788 | 317H=791 | 31AH=794 | 163H=355 | 322H=802 # 16M | 24 | 312H=786 | 315H=789 | 318H=792 | 31BH=795=| | 323H=803 # 16M | 32 | | | | | 164H=356 | # ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Leen
