I have high suspicion that this is a samba 3.2.x issue as printing had been working flawlessly from XP through 3.0.28a. It could be a bad XP update or, more likely with all the activity in moving to 3.2.x samba may have suffered a regression in printing from XP. Either way, be on the lookout. I have also posted to the samba guys about this as well.

Confirmed as a bug in samba-3.2.1-0.1.126. See later post today forwarded from samba list for a patch or downgrade to latest samba in /update until rpms for samba 3.2.2 are released.
