Count me in with the problem. Even tried to run fetchmsttfonts manually. It hangs on about the 4th font it downloads. -- +----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ + Bruce S. I had the same problem initially for the first three YOU update attempts (completely hung the system -- IBM T23 laptop -- the first two times). I applied the brute force and ignorance method: I tried three different ftp/http locations and the MS font package finally downloaded and installed through YaST. No other configurations were changed between attempts ... only hard and soft reboots. Probably not much help, other than to say this issue might be somewhat random. Patience... at some point it took too long to install the fonts cause fontconfig was generating some stuff ... It takes a lot of time but the fonts are installed at the end... On Monday 31 May 2004 18:43, Scott Nemmers wrote:

The sourceforge server that the fontpackage installs from has been up and down for me the last three weeks as I have been installing 9.1 over that period. The symptom is an apparent hang because the server connection doesn't appear to timeout.

It works, but you don't have an actual progress indicator, it sits at 50% while it downloads the fonts. The download takes very long. You can look, as root, in /tmp/fetchmsttf... to see the real progress.
I missed the original posting. Where do you go and how do you d/l the MS TT fonts? --doug On Tuesday 01 June 2004 08:23, Silviu Marin-Caea wrote:

I started SuSE Watcher from the icon on the taskbar, all it allows me to do is d/l some files having to do with hardware I don't own, like NVidia, and h/w that works that I wouldn't fool with, like my Ethernet connection. There is no way I can see to open a file for MS TT fonts. How can I get to the MS TT fonts, and how can I make the system STOP trying to update stuff that I don't want played with? --doug On Tuesday 01 June 2004 19:42, Steve Reynolds wrote:

Use SuSE Watcher > Start Online Update, then select the MS TT fonts options.

It sounds like you may already have added the MS TT fonts if does not show up in SuSE Watcher. Are Arial and Times New Roman available in OOo? Steve
Yes, I have Ariel and Times New Roman in Open Office. Do you know if they can be added to WordPerfect? If so, how? I must assume that these fonts came along with some kind of on-line upgrade, I didn't select them specifically, AFAIR. thanx for the dope. --doug On Tuesday 01 June 2004 21:05, Steve Reynolds wrote:
