[SLE] what package contains forms.h?
Hi, I'm trying to compile a package that chokes saying it can't find forms.h. I searched my system, and it isn't here. What package am I missing? Anyone know? -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
The package you are looking for is most likely the xforms package. On Tue, May 23, 2000 at 04:26:33PM -0400, zentara wrote:

I believe it's either fltk or xforms... Alvaro Novo SuSE 6.3 Kernel 2.2.13 KDE 1.1.2

Is there any way to answer this question in general? In other words, if I need foo.bin and I haven't already installed it, how can I find the package containing it? Does rpm -q help somehow? No, rpm -q will only tell you about stuff already installed. IIRC you can try grepping some of the files on CD#1 for the filename... Take a look at the files first, though. Don't just cat them all into a grep, or you will get to wait quite some time. (Those files are HUGE.) One of the files to look at is: archives.gz If that was the correct file zcat /cdrom/archives.gz | grep forms.h should tell you the name of the rpm (and some other info). Here's what you can do (and some guru can back it up or not): use YaST, Choose Install/Package Package information F9 search "forms.h" then some choices are obvious, others not really, but you can press F2, scroll through the description, which includes location and files to be installed... maybe the file you are looking for is there! Probably there is a more elegant way of doing it, but I am not aware. Anybody out there? Yeah, I found that out. I installed the pay package xforms but a system search showed no forms.h. But I got the source for xforms, and could install it manually. Why dosn't the xforms package in series pay, install the forms.h ??? No this is not a malfunction. The file forms.h is not in the package xforms
but in the package xformsd (it should be below the xforms package in the pay
section). Anyway, you need both packages if you want to compile applications
that make use of the XForms library.
Regards...
